Community Transport (CT) is a wheelchair accessible, not-for-profit community transport service for Community Groups. 700 such groups are currently registered with TCT.
Any Community Group that finds it difficult or impossible to access conventional public transport. Typically, CT is used by social groups, stroke associations, nursing and residential homes, schools, colleges, sports and social clubs, places of worship, to name but a few. Groups use the services to access shopping, social, sports, fitness, education and other activities that benefit the community.
A representative registers their group or club with TCT, whose staff record the group/club details, and the details of individual members for booking purposes. The Group representative can then book transport. TCT identifies a vehicle and a trained volunteer driver. Group members register a high level of customer satisfaction with this services.
The cost is based on the number of miles logged during the journey and, if appropriate, a charge is made for light miles, also known as dead mileage (miles accrued without passengers on board). The cost of the trip is spread between the number of passengers using the service. The group/club's representative is then invoiced for the trip.

Groups use the transport for shopping, accessing places of worship, social visits, club activities, leisure centres, sports an leisure facilities, museums, theatres & cinemas - in fact any activity or place that benefits group or club members. Some organisations also use CT for Day Trips.
Community Transport services are available 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. This service is flexible, responsive and operates within and outside the district, serving groups of people of all ages and abilities. This service is subject to the availability of a minibus and volunteer driver.
TCT owns nine wheelchair accessible minibuses and an one, eight passenger seats MPV (multi-person vehicle). If none of these vehicles is available we will ask our partners to help.
TCT shares its vehicles with other organisations and encourages them to share their vehicles for the benefit of the community. TCT also acts as a broker in this sharing process.
TCT's drivers are trained to a nationally recognised certificate standard in both MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme training) and PATS (Passenger Assistants Training Scheme).
